Deceased

As Posted in the Williams Alumni News

DeVera (DeDe) L. Foremanye, passed on Nov. 13, 2017.

DeDe earned a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980 and later pursued doctoral studies there. She legally changed her last name from Foreman to reflect her African roots. She started her career as a clinical psychologist at Devereux Foundation. She then worked in private practice with a focus on children and adolescents and taught psychology at Essex Community College. She researched and documented the misdiagnoses of adolescent black males by white psychologists. She loved camping, spending time at the beach, dancing and collecting African art. Her survivors include several nieces and nephews.
